Treatment

Doctors Zagrodsky and Gallinghouse use the latest technology and treatment options at MCH Electrophysiology to correct abnormal heart rhythms including:

  • Drug therapy – You may be prescribed different medications that help your heart beat in a normal rhythm, control the heart rate, and prevent stroke.
  • Cardioversion – This is a procedure performed in the hospital which uses small, timed electrical shocks to the heart to restore a regular rhythm.
  • Implantable Defibrillator or Pacemaker – These small devices may be surgically placed under the skin to keep track of your heart rate and deliver an electric shock if the heart stops beating or is beating irregularly.
  • Radiofrequency ablation – This procedure is performed by catheter and uses radiofrequency energy to destroy the paths causing the abnormal heart rates.
  • Cryoblation – This procedure is done by catheter and involves freezing the tissue in the heart that are causing the irregular rhythms. It can be done in less time than radiofrequency ablation and can take away the need for blood thinners such as Coumadin.

Medical Center Hospital

Medical Center Hospital (MCH) has proudly served Ector County and the surrounding 17 counties of the Permian Basin for over 65 years. We've come a long way since we opened our doors in 1949, growing from a small county hospital into a prosperous 402-bed regional medical center serving over 100,000 patients annually. While we've seen many changes over the years, some things have remained unchanged. We are still the only full-service hospital in the region, and we still strive to deliver the best care possible for the people of the Permian Basin.
